In the olden days of trade and craft we all looked at the world in this form of “mysticism”. In order to learn things people had to travel to these things called “libraries”. They would have to manually turn these thin pieces of wood with ink printed upon them in order to learn about certain subjects! Can you imagine? All that time spent driving/walking to the library, time spent searching for the certain book of choice, and then time spent tediously searching through this pile of text in order to find what you’re looking for. How horrifically inefficient.

Alright, so that wasn’t THAT long ago. That actually still carries on to this day. What I’m saying is that you have the whole knowledge bank of human culture at your fingertips: The Internet. I like to refer to the internet as my “Idiots Guide to Everything”. That’s right.. EVERYTHING. Want to learn how to eat hotdogs like Kobayashi? The internet will teach you. You want to learn how to meditate like a Buddhist Monk? Yep, they’ve got that too. The point I’m trying to make is that you have the ability to learn the viewpoints and methodologies of almost every culture out there. Why not take the opportunity to expand your thoughts and intelligence by learning more? Experience the world by trying new things.

Learning to get out and do things yourself will set you a mile ahead of just about everyone else on the planet. You will save money and become more knowledgeable. For example, buying a pre-built computer is convenient, but how much extra are you paying for that neat little package? In most cases, building your own computer can save you 30 to 40% of the cost. Those who have a willingness to learn with the persistence to utilize that information have almost no limitations. The more familiar you are with the world around you, the more likely you are to succeed in whatever path you choose.

And for those of you that like things convenient all the time: Just more money for those of us that DIY
